He was the vice president of the Bar Association of Vojvodina in two terms (1994-2001) and has participated in European President’s Conference of the European Bar Associations and Law Societies (Europäische Präsidentenkonferenz, Vienna, Austria) on panel sessions: “Suggestions for EU legislation-which areas require harmonization by way of EU legislation-which areas should remain the domain of national legislation”, “Survey of national reports for EU Legislation” and “Terms of Reference and Introduction to National Legislation”.

Živan had been appointed legal adviser for civil and criminal areas on implementation of the Final Award to the Supervisor of Brcko District – Principal Deputy High Representative, the Office of the High Representative (OHR).

Živan’s experience includes:

• Advising the Supervisor of Brcko District – Principal Deputy High Representative, the Office of the High Representative (OHR), in particular developing legislation, screening legal acts developed by the Brcko Government, supporting the judicial reform, act upon complaint of citizen toward the government or public institutions, drafting regular memo of information to the Supervisor, drafting the Supervisory Orders enacted by the Supervisor, supporting the Supervisor with legal advice and recommendations.
• Advising OHR Team working within the framework of the USAID project: Local Governance Assessment and Policy Recommendations, USAID, 2003, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
• Drafting a number of laws and regulations including but not limited to the Law on Weapons and Ammunition, EU Programme, Brcko District, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In his spare time Živan enjoys riding his mountain bikes, connecting with nature and being an audiophile.
